You know how each year, Obama has his list of favourite books, music and entertainment? Well, I'm no Obama, but I thought, why not? So I have written my list of (mostly) new content that accompanied me through the ride that was 2020.

As a qualitative researcher, EPIC was invaluable to me. I have watched tutorials that I keep referencing and read articles that have inspired me with their deep reflective insights.

Speaking of insightful talks, the Human Show quickly became my favourite podcast. Listening to Anthropologists talk about their work in public and private spaces was the mental juice I did not know I needed.

Keeping up with the brain food analogy, Indi Young and Erika Hall (among others) gave me bite-sized pieces of research wisdom that I consider "shelved" under my Twitter likes.

I gleaned other research specific learning from UXR Collective's new learning platform and, of course, its Slack Community.

I found other Slack communities this year, but Ent_Des was the most interesting to me, AND it led me to the most resourceful newsletter I have come across: The OrgDev Newsletter.

I have to say this really was the year of newsletters for me, and James Clear's 3-2-1 Thursday Newsletter is at the top of my recommended list right next to Sarah Stockdale's We Need To Talk About This.

Honourable mention goes to the Centre for Public Impact for gracing my inbox with its newsletter and blessing my Twitter feed through Thea Snow and Toby Lowe.

I think learning with and through others was a theme throughout 2020 that was also demonstrated by the Systems Thinking learning group I joined (shoutout to Toni for leading; Deji, Debbie & Uchenna for being fellow comrades). I scaled up in my knowledge, and have them and Open University's Mastering Systems Thinking in Practice to thank for that.

I have many people to thank for what seems now like a year of learning (whether they know it or not). As I end this list, I remember a tweet I recently came across that said, "I'm a culmination of all the amazing people I've interacted with directly/indirectly along my journey through life thus far." - I couldn't agree more.

Cheers to a new year 💥
